THISWORX Car Vacuum Cleaner Review – Does It Suck?

I’ll preface this review of the THISWORX Car Vacuum Cleaner by stating that I had no faith that this product would work at all.

I really thought I was wasting my time reviewing such a product as past car vacuum cleaners we have tried before have all been a bit crap.

However, I am surprised to report that the THISWORX really does work, and it can be used to clean your car. But do I recommend buying it? Well, that depends on a number of factors which we will discuss in this review of the THISWORX car vacuum.

How Much Does The THISWORX Car Vacuum Cleaner Cost?

We paid US34.99 (down from $39.99) for the THISWORX Car Vacuum Cleaner. Obviously, prices can and will change overtime, so if you are reading this in the future don’t be surprised to find a slightly different price. At $34.99 the THISWORX Vacuum is a pretty low priced solution to cleaning the inside of your car and is similarly priced to other vacuums of this sort.

First Impressions and What’s in the Box

The THISWORX Vacuum comes fairly well packaged in a box with all of the main features and specifications on the outside. In the box you get the following:

• 1 x THISWORX Vacuum Cleaner with HEPA filter installed
• 1 x extra HEPA filter
• 1 x carry bag
• 1 x brush nozzle/filter brush
• 1 x small cleaning brush for the vacuum
• Some other nozzles/extras which you can view in the photo below

The build quality of the vacuum is nothing to write home about, but it is good enough for the price. We didn’t have any problems with any of the plastic bits breaking, but we will report back if we have any issues in the future. We did find that the 12v/lighter socket plug required a surprising amount of force to get in on one of the cars we tested the vacuum with. However, this is more down to the car, but it is something to be aware of.

Using the THISWORX Car Vacuum Cleaner

Once you have plugged the THISWORX Vacuum in and turned on your car you can begin using it. The power switch on top of the vacuum lets you turn it on and off without having to turn your car on and off. When the vacuum is turned on there is quite a bit of noise and air movement, but it isn’t terrible.

The THISWORX Vacuum worked surprisingly well sucking up detritus such as dirt grass and small leaves. It even worked well with human hair but struggled a bit picking up the black fur from our two Labradors (although a lot of vacuums seem to struggle with this). Overall, we were genuinely surprised at how much the THISWORX Vacuum Cleaner can pick up.

Where we ran into trouble was when we wanted to empty the contents of the vacuum into a bin. The THISWORX doesn’t feature a bag and instead the front clips off and then the filter can be removed. Once you have done this you can empty the contents of the front nozzle/compartment into a bin or bag. Unfortunately, getting the filter out of the nozzle has been a bit of a nightmare for us as it requires excessive amounts of force in our eyes. The first time we removed it, the filter shot off and the contents went everywhere. We have since installed the filter less tightly, but it can still cause trouble for my partner.

The THISWORX Vacuum vs Regular Vacuums

By this point you may be wondering how the THISWORX compares to more regular vacuum cleaners that are used around the house/workshops etc. Overall, the THISWORX is worse. While it provides a surprising amount of suction, if you want a really good cleaning job you are probably better off using a more traditional vacuum cleaner.

Where the THISWORX comes into its own is if you want something that you can use for a quick clean that provides good enough results. For example, if you are somebody who likes to go to the beach, and you just need something to quickly remove the sand from your car. Parents with messy children or those who like to eat in their car (especially if it is a flaky pastry pie) will benefit from this vacuum as well.

Basically, if you need to do a really good job cleaning your car, use a proper vacuum. For more minor jobs we found the THISWORX to be perfectly adequate.

THISWORX Car Vacuum Cleaner Review – Conclusion & Recap

As I said at the start, I went into this review thinking I wouldn’t recommend this product. However, after testing this vacuum I can genuinely see a use case for it. It doesn’t set the world alight with its sucking ability, but it provides enough cleaning power to be useful in a range of different situations. If you understand its limitations, I don’t think you will be disappointed by the THISWORX Vacuum Cleaner.

We wouldn’t recommend it if you need something powerful enough to give your car’s interior a really good clean, but for more minor jobs it is fantastic. We feel it will especially be useful for us on longer trips where we want to give our car a quick clean or after we do some outdoors activities that bring some detritus into the car.

We didn’t have any reliability problems, but we haven’t tested it long enough to really tell how long the THISWORX will last.
